En mission de routine, le vaisseau MK-31 commandé par le bouillonnant capitaine Hamilton intercepte un étrange signal qui perturbe les télécommunications sur Terre. Après analyses, le super ordinateur du commandement spatial affirme que le signal provient d’une intelligence extraterrestre qui est potentiellement dangereuse. Ordre est donné au capitaine Hamilton de trouver la source de l’émission et de la détruire. Le vaisseau est alors pris pour cible par deux soucoupes. Endommagé, le MK-31 est attiré vers une proche planète où il parvient à atterrir. L’équipage part en reconnaissance. Alors qu’ils sont isolés, deux de ces membres sont attaqués par des robots. Plus loin, Hamilton et ses hommes rencontrent les habitants de la planète, descendants d’un peuple jadis brillant qui a été asservi par la machine qu’il a autrefois conçu. Les terriens décident de les aider à détruire leur oppresseur....
La planète errante
Les scientifiques découvrent que la série de catastrophes naturelles qui embrase le monde est due à une planète errante et déserte qui fonce droit sur la Terre. Pour tenter de contrer l’Armageddon imminente, une équipe d’astronautes est envoyée à sa rencontre. Mais après leur atterrissage sur la planète rebelle, ils découvrent que la meurtrière planète héberge une forme de vie sanguinaire….
